Paula's first single released from "Spellbound" was "Rush Rush" which flew straight up to #1 on the Billboard Charts.
"Rush Rush" was also Paula's first ballad.
The music video co-starred teen heartthrob
Keanu Reeves. While filming the video Paula had her first real taste of acting as she remade scenes from the movie "Rebel Without a Cause" the story in which the music video is based.
While recording high notes for "Rush Rush" Paula broke a meter in the recording studio. Her producers challenged her to do it again and she did.
Paula took vocal lessons from vocal coach Gary Catona everyday two years prior to the release of Spellbound.
Gary is also the vocal coach of "Sweet Charity's" Shirley McLaine.
Paula laid down a 'scratch vocal' for the song, not intending for it to be on the final cut of the track, but Paula's producers chose to keep it on the track because it added a "raw quality" to the song they didn't intend on ruining.
