MC Skat Kat was created by Michael Patterson and Candace Reckinger for Paula Abdul's music video "Opposites Attract."
The Stray Mob comprised of Skat Kat's friends: Fatz, Taboo, Leo, Micetro, Katleen, and Silk.
MC Skat Kat had attracted such a huge following post- Opposites Attract that the cartoon eventually found himself with his own record deal on the Virgin/Captive Records label.
While originally voiced by "The Wild Pair" on Paula Abdul's "Forever Your Girl" album, a singer known as Derrick "Delite" Stevens who voiced MC Skat Kat's rap in "Opposites Attract" also performed all of MC Skat Kat's lead vocals on "The Adventures of MC Skat Kat and the Stray Mob."
An advertisement for the album can be found in Paula's "Under My Spell" Tour book.
The song titled "Skat Strut" was released off the album as a single on September 10th, 1991.
Paula Abdul makes a guest appearance in the animated "Skat Strut" video.
At the time of its release "Skat Strut" was one of the most requested music videos on MTV.
However, the release of the album "The Adventures of MC Skat Kat And The Stray Mob" flopped quickly after being issued in 1991.
